About the Role
As a Chemist, reporting to the EVP of Research & Development, you will be an integral part of the Product Development team. You will focus on formulating innovative hair care and styling products.
What You will Do :
Innovation & Collaboration :
- Development of new hair care and styling formulations, setting new industry standards for quality and innovation
- Create prototypes, monitor pilots to full-scale production, ensuring the transition is efficient, cost-effective, and adheres to the highest quality standards
- Collaborate with a diverse array of cross functional teams ensuring hair care product development aligns with market demands and company goals
- Drive the pursuit of hair care and styling innovations, leveraging deep industry knowledge and analytical skills to keep JPMS at the forefront of professional hair care and styling
Laboratory Analysis :
Strict compliance with GMP and GLP standards in the lab, championing best practices in every aspect of the formulation processTravel when necessary to our third-party contract manufacturers to support the production team with scale up of new formulation, compounding / production issues, QC issues, etc.Troubleshoot formula, raw material issues, finding replacements whenever necessaryWorks on-site at JPMS Product Innovation Center and new product laboratoryPerform all relevant formula related testingData Management :
Upstream communication collaboration with teamMonitor and ensure the quality of all new products in terms of stability, compatibility, micro, safety, and regulatory requirementsWho You Are :

Formulation skills in all hair care and styling technologiesRaw material knowledge, FDA / EU / UK cosmetic directive guidelinesStrong knowledge and understanding of compounding / production equipment and facilitiesStrong knowledge and understanding of compounding / production equipment and facilitiesDemonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, always looking for ways to improve and promote qualityObserve safety and security procedures, determine appropriate action beyond guidelines, report potentially unsafe conditions and use equipment and materials properlyEducation :
Bachelor's degree in science (i.e. chemistry, cosmetic chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related science) requiredExperience :
Minimum of 3 years' work experience in hair care formulation requiredCompetitive Compensation :
The expected base salary range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000 .
