Job description
We are looking for a proficient, experienced, licensed Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our team. You’ll ensure excellent customer service and lift administrative and basic dental tasks off the dentist’s shoulders. The right candidate should be well-organized with great attention to detail. You should be able to follow instructions and respect dental office regulations. We want you to be skilled in providing direct or indirect patient care and able to make office procedures as smooth as possible.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers in the dental office
- Prepare customers for treatments or checkups ensuring their comfort
- Select and set up instruments, equipment and material needed
- Sterilize instruments according to regulations
- Assist the dentist through 4-handed dentistry
- Undertake lab tasks as instructed
- Provide oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions
- Keep the dental room clean and well-stocked
- Schedule appointments
- Maintain accurate patient records and assist with payment procedures
Skills
- Proven experience as a expanded functions dental assistant
- Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
- Orthodontic experience
- Implant experience
- Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks (coronal polishing is a plus)
- Exceptional computer/typing skills
- Excellent communication and people skills
- iTero Scanning
- Attention to detail
- Well-organized and reliable
- EFDA license required

Duties
- Assist dentists during procedures by handing them instruments and anticipating their needs
- Prepare patients for dental work by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping them
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment, prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations
- Take and develop dental x-rays under the direction of a dentist
- Educate patients on appropriate oral hygiene strategies
- Maintain accurate patient records and assist with documentation
Qualifications
-Must have a current EFDA license and X-ray certification
- Proficiency in dental systems and terminology
- Strong anatomy knowledge
- Experience in pediatric dentistry is a plus
- Familiarity with four-handed dentistry techniques
- Knowledge of infection control protocols in a dental clinic setting
- Understanding of general dentistry procedures
- Ability to handle medical documentation accurately
