What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Science Teacher - Middle School position at John T. Nichols, Jr. Middle School?
Substitute Science Teacher candidate will hold licensure in Middle School Science from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and will possess strong content background, solid classroom management skills, and excellent organizational skills. Previous teaching experience and familiarity with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks are helpful.
1. Responsible for remaining up to date regarding curriculum content.
2. Responsible for effective planning and assessment of curriculum and instruction.
3. Responsible for mentoring students’ understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusting instruction, materials, or assessments when appropriate.
4. Responsible for effective management of classroom environment.
5. Responsible for providing best teaching practices, which includes clear learning goals to the students using appropriate instructional and questioning techniques
6. Implements hands-on approach to inquiry based learning and investigation of science concepts
7. Differentiates learning content, process or product to support all learners and has a strong understanding of Tiered Instructional routines
8. Responsible for using innovative approaches, and instructional strategies, including the effective use of technologies, to increase student learning and confidence to learn.
9. Responsible for the promotion of high standards and expectations for student achievement.
