Position Summary
The Mental Health Technician (MHT) is responsible for primarily serving as a one-to-one observer for assigned patients while securing and maintaining a safe environment for the patient under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). When not assigned to the observer role Patient Care Technician duties may be delegated to the MHT. This position reports to the Workforce Management Manager.
Education/Experince
- A minimum of a High School diploma, GED, Certificate of Completion or equivalent achievement
- One year work experience with children and adolescents seeking psychiatric treatment preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, Medical Assistant (MA) certification, or one of the following:
- A nursing student or LPN who has completed fundamental nursing skills coursework
- An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification
- Complete hospital-provided de-escalation training program within 6 months of hire.
