The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development. As a member of our team, you will:
- Design embedded systems, encompassing both hardware and software systems
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to capture requirements, design circuits, select components, and validate designs through modeling and simulation.
- Showcase your work at design reviews and produce crucial documentation for communication, fabrication and operation of your designs.
- Test, integrate, and deploy your embedded and electrical systems into larger projects
- Procure hardware to support the assembly and test of your designs
- Brainstorm innovative solutions to our country's most ambitious problems
Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
- Will graduate with a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline within the next year
- Have experience in the design, test, and development of electrical hardware and software systems through coursework, research, personal projects, or previous internship experience.
- Have experience designing and prototyping electronic circuitry that employs FPGAs, DSP processors, microcontrollers, sensors, and power supplies.
- Have programming experience in one or more software languages such as C, C , Python or in hardware description languages such as VHDL or Verilog.
- Are familiar with modeling and simulation tools like SPICE, MATLAB/SIMULINK.
- Have experience in the test and measurement of electrical systems via the use of oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, function generators, etc.
- Have excellent communication skills and an ability to document designs and results.
- Can obtain a Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
