Sibley Memorial Hospital is a non-profit, full service 318 bed acute care community hospital serving the Washington, DC area. Sibley offers medical, surgical, intensive care, obstetric, oncology, orthopaedic, skilled nursing inpatient services, and a state-of-the-art 24-hour Emergency Department. Sibley's campus, with its new patient tower, is also home to the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, the Johns Hopkins National Proton Therapy Center, Grand Oaks -- an assisted living residence -- a medical building with physician offices and an ambulatory surgery and imaging center.
We are seeking a dynamic Assistant Director of Nursing of Operations for Emergency and Critical Care. You will be responsible for planning, directing, supervising, and coordinating patient care activities and nursing services for the area of responsibility on a 24-hour seven-day weekly basis. You will monitor and assure proper patient care delivery in accordance with safe, high quality, and efficiency standards. The Assistant Director will oversee the management of nurse managers, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, medical surgical aides, and clerical support. Key responsibilities include collaborating with nursing leadership, physicians, and ancillary departments to implement and evaluate services, ensuring continuous performance improvement, managing day-to-day operations, supervising units, participating in hiring processes, conducting periodic evaluations, and supporting the nursing leadership team on each unit
What you bring:
- Must possess a Master’s degree from an accredited school of nursing. Candidate with a BSN may be considered for this position if they matriculate in a master program within 12 months of hire/transfer.
- Incumbent should have at least a minimum of 2-3 years in management.
- Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the District of Columbia.
- Current CPR Certification required.
- Strong skills in negotiation, financial analysis, physician relations, developing contacts, managed care contracting and marketing. Must be mature, confident, creative, self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively.
- The ability to perform exceptionally well as a planner and manage numerous functions, programs and initiatives compatibly and simultaneously.
- Excellent written and oral communications in English. Able to prepare proposals, business plans and return on investment analysis as well as speak before large and small groups.
- Ability to understand and comply with federal, state and local regulations and accrediting standards related to emergency department best practices within the District.
- Ability to work with older individuals and understand their needs. Ability to establish rapport with individuals with a variety of backgrounds.
- Good networking skills and knowledge of health care resources & services in metropolitan Washington, D.C.
- Ability to analyze financial reports and business opportunities.
- Annual performance appraisals will measure the level of knowledge and skill maintained using criteria-based job standards. Employee must maintain a satisfactory level of knowledge and skills to continue employment.

Salary Range: Minimum 67.78 per hour - Maximum 105.06 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
