What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physician Assistant I - Emergency Medicine position at Johns Hopkins Medicine?
The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center (JHBMC) in Baltimore, MD is an academic hospital. The Emergency Department (ED) has approximately 50,000 visits annually. There are 60 patient care rooms, 6 trauma/critical care resuscitation rooms, and a secure 13 bed psychiatric unit. JHBMC is a level 2 trauma center and Maryland’s only regional burn center. The Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant (PA) provides health care services to patients in an emergency and trauma unit under the direction and responsibility of a physician. You will have the opportunity to develop your emergency medical procedure skills for a wide variety of urgent and emergent patients care scenarios (intubation, arterial line placement, paracentesis, pigtail and large chest tube placement, joint reductions, suturing and more) The PA conducts physical exams, diagnoses and treats illnesses, orders and interprets tests, counsels on preventative care, assists in trauma and critical care, and writes prescriptions as needed.

Full Time (36 hours); 12 hour rotating shifts; weekends; on-call
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in a Physician Assistant Program
Maryland CDS (prescription) and DEA (narcotics) licensure required
Certifications: BLS and ACLS
Experience: 2-years of Emergency room work experience strongly preferred; new graduate PA will be considered
Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership Systems (PECOS) enrollment required

Salary Range: Minimum $53.15/hour - Maximum $82.38/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
