Howard County General Hospital is now “Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center,” a private, not-for-profit, community health care provider governed by a community-based board of trustees. Opened in 1973, the original 59-bed, short-stay hospital has grown into a comprehensive acute care medical center with 226 licensed beds, specializing in women’s and children’s services, surgery, cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, gerontology, psychiatry, emergency services, and community health education. Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center provides a variety of elective and emergency cardiac diagnostic and treatment procedures in its state-of-the-art, computerized Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories (cath lab). Our cardiology team offers highly skilled care by board-certified Johns Hopkins cardiologists, specialty-trained nurses, and radiologic technologists committed to working cooperatively with patients and their families.

In a short span, she showcased her capabilities, earning promotions to Lead RN and Assistant Nurse Manager in 2019. Her journey continued when she later transferred to HCMC.
Darlene is not only a proficient leader but also a mentor who actively supports the professional growth of RNs. She oversees three vital units: ICU Special Care Unit, ICU, and Cath Lab. Education/Experience Requirements:
- BSN Required.
- RNs without a BSN must enroll in a BSN program within 6 months and complete the degree within 4 years of their start date.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience preferred, preferably in ICU or Emergency nursing.
- Previous specialty clinical experience preferred for specialty units.
Licensure/Certification:
- Current Maryland RN license or licensure in a compact state that allows practice in Maryland.
- CPR required.
- ACLS
