The SQL Server DBA will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical Microsoft SQL Server RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our applications. This is a “hands-on” position on our Infrastructure Team requiring solid technical skills, troubleshooting abilities as well as demonstrated communication and documentation experience.
The successful candidate will be responsible for multiple applications both commercially and internally developed ensuring their operational readiness (security, health and performance), executing data loads, and ability to troubleshoot complex issues with them . Our applications support the enterprise in product ordering, warehouse management, reporting systems, and Business Intelligence. Must be capable of working independently and collaboratively with Infrastructure and Development teams.

Job Duties:
- Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product life cycle environments, from development to production systems
- Monitors and tests database backup procedures and security procedures
- Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
- Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations
- Calculates optimum levels for database parameters such as amount of computer memory and CPU cycles to be used by database
- Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end, and assisting with root-cause analysis
- Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document data architecture and change control
- Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
- Provide on-call support for critical production systems.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
- 5 years MS SQL Server Administration experience required
- Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using Solarwinds DPA or similar native tools
- Experience with backups, restores and recovery models Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
- Experience working with Windows server systems, including Active Directory
- Excellent written and verbal communication Flexible, team player, “get-it-done” personality
- Ability to organize and plan work independently
- Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams
- MCTS, MCITP, and/or MVP certifications a plus Previous experience with other relational databases such as MySQL, IBM DB2, Oracle a plus
