The Tax Specialist position is responsible for completing a variety of tax returns including state excise, sales & use, and personal property. Tax returns are generally completed on a monthly basis. Position is also responsible for supplier administration and approving company expense reports in accordance with company Travel & Entertainment Policy along with IRS guidelines. This position works directly with the Account Payable Team and reports directly to the Corporate Accounts Payable Manager/Tax Compliance Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare & submit excise tax returns
- Prepare & submit sales & use tax returns
- Ensure real estate taxes paid timely & review all valuations
- Prepare & submit personal property taxes
- Supplier Administration: Verify authenticity & completeness
- New supplier setups
- Supplier changes
- Banking verifications
- Expense Report Partner
- Approve expense Reports daily
- Monitor expense reports for duplicity
- Follow up weekly on expense reports greater than 2 weeks
- Point of contact for inquiries
- Assist Accounts Payable Team auditing invoices ensuring accuracy and in accordance to Accounts Payable guidelines
- Assist Accounts Payable 3-way PO matching process for product-based invoices
- Assist Accounts Payable and Tax Compliance Manager with various projects
Skills & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- Experience working in Workday software is preferred
- Effective and efficient communication skills; both written and verbal
- Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning financial aspects of the company
- Attention to detail while maintaining a high level of accuracy
- Ability to multitask is a must; work daily within multiple accounting programs at once
- Computer proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general internet applications
The expected pay range for this role is $43,268.40 - $71,899.80 annually . It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon several factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity, union status (where applicable) and alignment with market data.
