POSITION: Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician/Scribe
Will train qualified candidate, but ophthalmic knowledge or healthcare experience beneficial.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Supports ophthalmologists by interviewing patients to obtain medical and ocular history, scribing, performing preliminary testing, assisting physicians as needed, patient work up, and diagnostic testing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interview patients and document ocular and medical histories into Electronic Health Record
- Scribe for different specialties
- Perform a variety of routine tests using ophthalmic instruments that provide diagnostic information including but not limited to: intraocular pressure, basic motility, visual fields, fundus photography OCT, refractions, biometry, and topography.
- Administer topical medications or diagnostic drugs as directed by physician
- Assisting physician with minor surgical procedures, sterile preparations, and documentation
- Maintain confidentiality of patient records
- Prepare procedure and exam rooms
- Perform basic triage
- Communicate clearly with patients
- Adhere to all clinic policies and procedures including, but not limited to: standards for safety, attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance
- Work as a team player
- Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED
