Summary:
The Telemetry Technician is responsible for observing both telemetry and hardware monitor central stations continuously, to identify possible cardiac arrhythmias, and to notify the primary nurse with any change that is not normal for that patient. The Technician wil interpret rhythm strips at regular intervals and report any changes in the latest and previous strips to the nurse. The Technician will participate in maintaining an accurate tracking system for the transmitters. This individual will demonstrate competency in the care of the Neonate, Infant, Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric patient populations. Additionally, the Technician will have access to patient information to perform the functions of this position; therfore the abilty to maintain confidentiality is a requirement. The Technician is also responsible for proper skin prep and lead placement on the patient. The Technician will ensure telemetry transmitters are programmed and conncted to the patient appropriately. The Technician has knowledge in troublshooting monitoring equipment. Once monitoring is complete, the Technician will retrieve the transmitter, clean the medical equipment, and prepare it for the next patient.
Requirements:
Experience in the medical field is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology. Arrhythmia class or equivalent required. High School diploma and/or GED required. Individuals who are at least 18 years of age and who have graduated or are actively enrolled in a high school/secondary education program in good standing with the academic institution and on track for meeting the high school/secondary graduation requirements are eligible for employment in this role.
