What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant Instructors position at Johnson College?
Johnson College is currently seeking qualified, experienced, and knowledgeable working professionals who enjoy teaching to serve as a part-time Medical Assistant instructor for Johnson College's Continuing Education Program. This program prepares students to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical aspects of a medical office. Functions include preparing patients for examination, treatment, routine laboratory procedures, pharmacology, and taking and documenting vital signs. Plus, students will learn the technical aspects of phlebotomy and the cardiac life cycle. The Continuing Education Instructor teaches assigned non-credit classes in areas of expertise; develops, organizes, and presents course materials; teaches all scheduled classes for the time allotted; completes and submits timely grade report; monitors student attendance; and assists students as appropriate.
Required qualifications may vary by discipline taught but generally include a minimum of three years of full-time industry expertise and / or work experience and appropriate education / training credentials pertinent to the course subject matter area. Formal teaching certification is not required. Teaching experience with adult students is preferred. A teaching demonstration may be required.
