What you will do
Reporting to the Director, Communications, you will be responsible for creating effective communications across the Johnson Controls organization.
This role is instrumental in supporting the creation and execution of a suite of communications for functional teams, strategic and tactical opportunities within the business units and special projects across the enterprise. This role is imperative in helping drive understanding and engagement to influence business strategy for growth and organizational health.
Your broad knowledge of effective communications channel strategy and measurement, coupled with a strong writing ability will be assisted by a curiosity to learn the operational practices of a global business and reach employees all the way to the front lines.
Working with the wider communications team, you will strive to continually evaluate and improve our communications for all employees, regardless of role and location, while bringing new and innovative ideas to the table.
How you will do it
- Support business and functional leaders by developing a deep understanding of the strategic business needs to create key messages and communicate them in a simple, engaging and informative way.
- Identify, research and present opportunities to communicate corporate goals.
- Develop communications plans including deliverables that drive expectations and impact goals of the business. May include support of employee engagement, business developments and change management.
- Work cross-functionally to develop best practices and promote communications consistency.
- Proactively communicate with stakeholders on new communications ideas while providing updates on all phases of a campaign’s lifecycle.
- Create engaging, creative and targeted employee communications that align with business goals.
- Leverage communications to drive organizational health and support action plans as an outcome of employee survey results.
- Drive consistency in communications processes, including measuring effectiveness.
- Research, write and edit a variety of internal publications in several formats.
- Provide communications support for large-scale events including webinars and live broadcasts.
- Manage relationships and projects with vendors as needed.
- Collaborate with marketing communications, media/public relations and digital teams to leverage existing content.
What we look for
Required
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2 years of business communications experience
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to gather complex concepts and information, translate it quickly into engaging content and share it clearly to multiple audiences
- Must possess the confidence and maturity to interact with all levels of the organization with the ability to maintain confidential or sensitive information, as well as influence with and without authority.
- Ability to tailor messages to various employee audiences using appropriate tone, nuance and level of information; superior command of grammar and usage.
- Ability to quickly gather and synthesize information from a variety of sources; aptitude for translating complex topics and issues into broadly understandable messages to employees.
- Able to think strategically across the enterprise while digging into tactical needs

- Excellent project management skills and ability to multitask
