What you will do
The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Director is a global role responsible for executing, inspiring, creating and innovating diversity and inclusion operational excellence across the Johnson Controls enterprise. The role serves as an agent for changing, enhancing and motivating all employees to take an active role in creating a rich culture of inclusion. The Office of D&I is an extension of the mission and vision of Johnson Controls and the work of the office of D&I is the work of each employee. The primary function of the role is to serve as program leader of the respective business unit, region or function. Additionally, the loaned executive will be assigned a major enterprise program through the Office of DE&I. Agility and flexibility to manage the strategic objectives of both the BU and the Office of D&I is required. Numerous opportunities will be presented to engage across the enterprise through workstreams, speaking engagements, workshops, and trainings.
The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Director will receive executive training, global leadership development, and visibility broadly and globally across Johnson Controls. The primary responsibilities of this role are detailed as follows:
How you will do it
- Drive, lead and execute the DEI strategy for BSNA.
- Build accountability across BSNA leadership for achieving aspirational goals, leveraging market analytics, pipeline management, talent acquisition & development. (Monthly cadence, KPIs)
- KPIs include leader diverse goal achievement, pipeline to leader jobs goal achievement, retention of diverse talent, promotion of diverse talent, hiring of diverse talent
- Drive detailed local market availability analytics to roadmap goal achievement at BSNA Senior leader level
- Lead BSNA D&I council around five key workstreams (Talent acquisition, culture & development, collaboration & allyship, women in the field, benchmarking)
- Coach and lead council to drive strategic initiatives
- Drive outcome-based metrics to ensure council success & align council to achievement of strategic DEI objectives and goals
- Create world class culture of inclusion across BSNA through tools (Revworks), workshops & engagement
- Support DEI requirements to around business development & sales process for BSNA
- Provide strategic advice and insights to local markets on JCI DEI strategy to close business
- Develop strategic solutions which can be replicated on larger business development opportunities
- Engage, drive and lead BSNA senior leadership team to drive and own DEI
- Leverage the office of DEI to bring support and structure to BSNA
- Leadership and day to day management of the Business Resource Groups across the Enterprise
- Implement, execute and update BRG Playbook
- Lead, support and steer the employee Business Resource Group leaders
- Create a succession plan for the two employee BRG leaders
- Planning and attend all BRG president/leader meetings
- Plan and attend all executive sponsor meetings
- Oversee all BRG sponsored enterprise events
- Provide ongoing feedback to EC/executive sponsors, BRG employee leaders and BRG presidents on the overall execution of the BRG strategy
- Grow the BRG membership and engagement by assigned target year over year
- Host annual BRG Summit
- Communicate the framework for electing new officers during the election cycle
- Oversee BRG monthly enterprise learning series
- Create scorecard to provide actionable feedback to BRG presidents and BRG EC/executive sponsors
- Utilize BRAVO platform to reward and recognize the engagement and success of the BRG actions and activities
- Understand the pulse of the JCI enterprise and charter new BRGs as needed
- Submit monthly BRG activity report to office of D&I (VP D&I, Global Director D&I)
- Continuous monitoring of BRG industry best practices
- BRG Success Factors
- Execute BRG playbook (Ensure that every BRG is operating by the standards of the playbook)
- 5-6 Bi-monthly Executive Sponsor meetings/trainings
- Inspect and deliver to Office of D&I each BRG’s annual plan by October 1
- Receive and socialize each BRGs event plan 60 days in advance of event
- Conduct monthly report out and planning meeting with the Employee BRG leaders
- Deliver BRG activity report to Office of D&I by the 15th of each month
- Attend monthly BRG president meetings and support both the BRG Employee leaders and the BRG presidents
- Grow BRG membership and activity attendance 15% year over year
- Update the BRG playbook as needed
- Host monthly BRG professional/personal development webinars (beginning March 2021)
- Introduce at least one new BRG to the enterprise
- Create an annual BRG calendar to be shared with all EC/executive sponsors, BRG employee sponsors, BRG presidents and BRG communication team chairs
- Monthly submission of BRG action and activity reports by the 15th of each month
- Attend at least one external professional BRG leadership meeting/workshop/class
