Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Location: Johnson County Hospital, Tecumseh, Nebraska
Reports to: Laboratory Supervisor
Job Summary:
Johnson County Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting and receiving laboratory specimens, performing laboratory testing, and completing quality control processes. The role also involves maintaining and operating laboratory equipment to ensure accurate test results and compliance with hospital standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform phlebotomy to obtain blood specimens and collect nasal specimens as needed.
- Receive and process laboratory specimens.
- Prepare and send specimens to reference laboratories.
- Conduct laboratory testing of blood, urine, and nasal specimens.
- Analyze test results for accuracy.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment used for testing and analysis.
- Implement quality assurance programs to maintain laboratory result accuracy.
- Set up, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment and workspaces.
- Accurately identify, label, and document specimens with relevant information.
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and as-needed maintenance of lab operations.
- Notify management of critical lab values and document notifications.
- Work scheduled hours and on-call shifts, as assigned.
- Perform additional tasks as required by hospital administration or supervisors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
- Associate's degree in medical laboratory technology.

Bachelor of Science Degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science that includes:

24 semester hours of science courses including
- 6 semester hours of chemistry.
- 6 semester hours of biology.

12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination.
- Phlebotomy experience preferred but not required.
