If you’re searching for something more than just a job, something akin to a calling, then consider the challenge and opportunity of being a member of Johnson County Government!  Johnson County Aging and Human Services operates four multi-service centers (MSCs) that provide stabilization assistance and self-sufficiency case management to low-income households. This position will close on February 14 at 5 pm. The successful applicant will be assigned to the Olathe multi-service center as the primary location, as well as the Gardner Southwest location, with some occasional travel to the other Human Service office locations that may include Lenexa and Mission. This position requires the ability to lift 20 pounds. 

 

The essential duties of the position are as follows:

  • Conducts assessments of individuals' applicable circumstances to identify strengths/needs and/or determine service eligibility; interprets and communicates relevant information to individuals, families, and other stakeholders. Provide stabilization to clients by providing resources for food, utilities, rent, medical, transportation and other needs. Provide targeted case management and self-sufficiency programming. Provide utility assistance through the Johnson County Utility Assistance Program. Coordinate assistance with other community agencies and their programs (Kansas City Medicine Cabinet, DCF, Workforce Partnership, etc.). Provide information and referral regarding local, county, state, and federal programs and services. Utilize My Resource Connection (MyRC) on a regular basis to ensure clients are connected with all possible resources. Utilize volunteers as needed to provide support for center services, providing training and coordination to ensure volunteer satisfaction.
  • Foster public awareness of multi-service center needs and services. Develop and maintain relationships with city, school district, and community organizations and participate in community initiatives. Provide opportunities for the community to provide assistance, donations, and community service.
  • Administer funds through Community and Family Support Services (CFSS), Inc., a 501c3 entity. Maintain client records, ensuring that client information is input accurately into the community-wide managed funds system and internal case management systems. Utilize the community-wide system to track client services, make referrals and track fund availability.
  • Develops plans to address the needs of individuals in single or multiple areas of focus; networks with other community agencies to research and coordinate a variety of resources and services to address short term intensive or long term individual needs; encourages the establishment and maintenance of support systems; consults and collaborates with other providers in the development, implementation and review of plans.
  • Completes and submits documentation regarding services provided; evaluates and documents individuals' progress according to measurable goals; reviews quality and effectiveness of services provided.
  • Provides support and backup assistance to other case managers which may include client home visits.

 

Minimum Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field and one year of related work experience are required.  KS/MO driver’s license with an acceptable driving record are required.

 

Master's degree in Human Services or related field; three (3) years progressively responsible experience working with vulnerable populations in a social service, community based or government setting; two (2) years experience implementing program funding; and one (1) year experience in public advocacy and/or fund raising position are preferred.

 

Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions.  Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency.

 

Education/Experience Substitutions:

Experience may be substituted for degree. Education may be substituted for experience.

In some instances, statutory or regulatory requirements may prohibit substitution of education and/or experience. 

 

Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:

All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.
