Johnson County's Justice Information Management Department is currently recruiting for a System Administrator II. First review of applications for this position will begin on April 4, 2025. Duties include:
- Develops strategic initiatives and coordinates project directions and schedules to maximize benefits and minimize impacts on the customer organizations; provides leadership in planning and implementation of projects for computer operations and enterprise systems administration.
- Manages overall operations; monitors system performance and configuration; conducts maintenance and repair; ensures records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained and applies revisions to host system firmware and software.
- Plans and executes the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of PC and server hardware, software, LAN and WAN networks, and operating and system management systems; defines system and operational policies and procedures.
- Develops new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability; trains technical staff in the use of developed or acquired software and hardware.
- Troubleshoots and leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel.
Associate’s degree in the following field(s) of study: Information Technology or relevant field and four (4) years work experience in systems design, programming and systems software and support are required.
Bachelor’s degree in the following field(s) of study: Information Technology or related field is preferred.

This position is currently eligible to work in a hybrid work environment with both onsite and remote work, after initial training period. Residency within the Kansas City-Overland Park-Kansas City, MO-KS Combined Statistical Area, which generally includes the Kansas counties of Johnson, Wyandotte, Leavenworth, Miami, and Linn, and the Missouri counties of Jackson, Clay, Platte, Cass, and Ray, is required.
