Marine Diesel Technician
Essential Job Functions:
- Disassemble, assemble, and install components and parts, including but not limited to powertrain, hydraulic, electrical AC/DC, and diesel engines in accordance with all prescribed quality and safety standards.
- Identify the problem and cause of failure through logical troubleshooting steps.
- Clean, repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components.
- Test, measure, and adjust engine and machine systems and components.
- Research and determine reusability of parts in accordance with published manufacturer guidelines.
- Coordinate the ordering of replacement parts with supervisor.
- Prepare and submit detailed, complete and legible service reports of all inspection and repairs performed using prescribed forms and procedures in a timely manner. Keep supervisor regularly apprised of status of assigned repair jobs and assist in addressing customer questions and concerns.
- Prepare, inspect and test prior to delivery.
- Maintain work area, tools, and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment.
- Maintain a professional and proper personal appearance at all times.
- Keep up to date with developments in tooling, technologies and systems.
- Perform related duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Marine Diesel engine, construction equipment and/or truck engine training and certifications through accredited technical schools or relevant military experience preferred.
- Minimum 2 to 3 years previous hands-on work experience as a diesel technician repairing Cummins, Volvo engines, Detroit Engines or applicable diagnostic and troubleshooting experience as a technician.
- Ability to read and comprehend moderately difficult computer-based schematics, specifications, service and parts literature, technical bulletins, safety manuals, and other related publications.
- Basic mechanical systems knowledge of diesel engines/engine failures, electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Proficient in the use of mechanical test equipment.
- Ability to safely use material handling equipment and tooling and wear company required PPE (protective eyewear, gloves, harnesses, footwear) during a shift assignment that could last between 8 and 10 hours.
- Good problem solving skills, detail oriented, and ability to work with a high level of accuracy.
- Good computer skills using related information system applications. Ability to perform duties with a sense of urgency, exceeding customer expectations. Ability to work in a dynamic fast paced service environment.
- Ability to work standard five-day work schedule, including daily overtime, and occasional weekend hours as necessary

- Posses a complete set of basic mechanic hand tools including drives. sockets and wrenches.
