What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Teacher position at Johnson Elementary School?
The LNSU is in search of a Pre-School teacher to join our team. The Teacher is responsible for the academic, social-emotional growth and development of all children in their care, which may include children with special needs; develops partnerships with parents/child’s caregivers to engage and encourage parent participation in the program. The Teacher is also responsible for assuring compliance with all State licensing regulations and other guidelines as set forth by the program; and works collegially with other staff members and outside agencies.
Develops weekly plans, and implements developmentally appropriate curriculum to nurture and stimulate all
domains of children’s development
● Perform on-going developmental evaluations for children and develop lesson plans and follow curriculum
implementation that addresses the individual needs of each child
● On an on-going basis, plan, evaluate and improve the physical environment in the classroom to create
opportunities to meet the changing needs of the developing child
● Maintain ongoing, open communication with parents/caregivers
● Liaison with children’s families to ensure smooth transition from home to school setting and transitions from
classroom to classroom when needed
● Maintain accurate, complete and timely child and program records; complete daily attendance records
● Report any suspicious of child abuse to supervisor AND child abuse hotline
● Assure a healthy, safe, clean and developmentally appropriate environment for children
● Complete annual performance evaluation
● Report all staffing and classroom concerns to supervisor in a timely manner
● Participate in ongoing development and evaluation of the Center’s goals and objectives
● Perform other related duties as required or assigned
● Ensure children are supervised at all times
●Training in child development education, teaching in or equivalent early childhood programs/elementary
programs and evidence of successful experiences.
● Certification in CPR and First Aid
