JOB SUMMARY: Preschool Minister position is responsible for overseeing, organizing, and planning for ministry of pre-natal through kindergarten children. This position will also oversee childcare ministry as well as facilitate relationships with shared spaces with Childcare, Wee School, and Johnson Ferry Christian Academy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Leadership & Vision
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for spiritual growth in preschool aged children, aligned with the church’s mission and vision.
- Lead, mentor, and empower a team of staff and volunteers to create a safe, welcoming, and vibrant ministry environment.
- Stay informed on trends and best practices in preschool ministry, incorporating creative and relevant approaches to programming.
- Lead, mentor, and empower Johnson Ferry’s Wee School and Childcare Ministries.
Programming & Curriculum
- Oversee the selection, preparation, and implementation of biblically sound, age-appropriate curriculum for all preschool ministry programs.
- Plan and execute engaging events and ministry opportunities, such as Preschool Vacation Bible School, Parent Commissioning, Wednesday night missions, expectant parents, seasonal celebrations, etc.
- Create opportunities for preschool families to serve and connect within the broader church community.
Volunteer Development
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers to ensure a well-staffed and thriving preschool ministry.
- Provide regular communication, resources, and encouragement to volunteers, fostering a culture of teamwork and care.
Family Engagement
- Build strong relationships with parents, equipping them to disciple their children and integrate faith into daily life.
- Serve as a resource for families navigating spiritual, emotional, or developmental challenges.
Administrative Oversight
- Manage the preschool ministry budget, resources, and facilities effectively.
- Ensure compliance with child safety policies, including volunteer background checks and training.
- Maintain clear records and communication systems to track attendance, participation, and ministry impact.
General Responsibilities
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Attend and participate in all regular ministry staff meetings, monthly church staff meetings, staff retreats, training, etc.
- Support the Senior Pastor and all other church staff.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's & Seminary degree preferred
- 3-5 years’ experience in Children or Preschool Ministry desired
PHYSICAL ABILITIES
- Ability to lift up and carry 50 or more pounds
- Able to walk and stand for extended periods of time
- Physically able to work inside and outside in various weather conditions
