3rd shift DSP

Johnson Group Home (JGH) is seeking 3rd shift Direct Support Provider (DSP) to care for up to four individuals with physical, developmental and intellectual disabilities in the Evington area. Most shifts would be 7 pm to 7:30 am and/or 11 pm to 7:00 am. Every other weekend is required. Your schedule would be given to you 2 weeks to a month in advance. The hours noted are required. Please keep that in mind when applying.

All successful candidates must clear a Department of Justice (DOJ) background check, Criminal and Sex Offender background checks and be fingerprinted. You must also have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities REQUIRED!! Preferred if you already have your 32-hour Med Aide Certificate and your CPR/First Aid.

Your overnight duties will include: repositioning individuals in their beds, checking for incontinent needs throughout the night, cleaning the individual’s home (check off list provided for you to work from), cooking meals for the week, stocking all supplies, creating shopping lists, entering documentation online for the tasks/training you supported the individuals with overnight, their responses and recording data.

Your duties would also include, but are not limited to: total supports with bathing, personal hygiene, changing incontinent briefs, teaching/helping with everyday skills, administer medications, help with dressing, cooking, laundry, help with transferring using a ceiling and floor lift, making grocery lists, ordering supplies, etc.

You must be able to use a computer with no supervision, have good verbal and written skills, be self-motivated and a good team player.

Duties will also include: helping individuals with physical, developmental and intellectual disabilities with their living skills and as outlined in their Individualized Service Plan (ISP). We love the individuals you would be working with as family and expect them to be treated with respect and dignity!! Their health and care is JGH’s number one priority.

You must to be able to work at a fast pace, demonstrate working independently, be punctual, be able to enter data online, use proper body mechanics to push, pull, bend and lift up to 75 pounds and pushing/ pulling to help individuals that use wheelchairs and with their ADLs. Must be able to stand for two or more hours.

Absolutely NO SLEEPING during any shifts at JGH.

Your paycheck will be direct deposited into your checking or savings account weekly, if hired.
