Program Components

DePuy Synthes’ Sales Training Representative (STR) Program is a 12-month development experience designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to begin a successful sales career in the medical device industry. We are recruiting for Sales Training Representatives to join our January and June 2022 classes.

 

Based out of a headquarters location, STRs will have the opportunity to learn from top sales trainers and build connections with multiple cross-functional partners. As a member of the Commercial Education team and extension of the field sales organization, STRs will help execute training programs, facilitate labs, support account conversions, and participate in other ongoing customer engagement activities. Pivotal to success will be the ability to develop the clinical and business acumen necessary to meet the needs of our customers.

 

After successfully completing the STR Program with demonstrated proficiency, STRs will be placed in a junior level field-based sales role. The majority of time in the sales role will be spent in surgeon offices and the hospital setting. Responsibilities include coverage of cases in the operating room (OR), coordination of equipment required for cases, and logistics related to hospital billing and replenishment.


Qualifications
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's or Master's Degree attained from an accredited university/college within 12-months of the start date is required.
  • Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 based upon 4.0 scale is required.
  • Ability to start work on a full-time basis by January 2022 or June 2022 is required.
  • Sales, Engineering, Life Science or Business academic major is preferred.
  • Completion of school-sponsored selling skills program is preferred.
  • Experience in retail and/or customer service is preferred.
  • Proven track record of academic success and demonstrated leadership in campus/community service activities is preferred.
  • By the start of the STR Program, relocation (with company relocation assistance) to the designated home office in Raynham, Massachusetts, West Chester, Pennsylvania or Warsaw, Indiana is required.
  • STR will be hired for a specific business unit and sales geography. After completion of the STR Program, relocation (with company relocation assistance) to that aligned geography is required.
  • After program completion, the sales role requires extensive travel within territory with the possibility of weekend work and/or limited overnight travel. Sales consultants are required to be on call 24 hours to respond to the needs of our customers.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the United States for multiple weeks at a time is required.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation - including driving record history - and a valid driver's license issued in the United States is required.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status, now or in the future, is required.
