Job Description

Johnson and Johnson is currently recruiting for a Vice President, New Ventures within the Johnson & Johnson MedTech organization. This role will be based in New Brunswick, NJ.

The VP, New Ventures will lead execution and standardization of due diligence and complex integrations in strategic acquisitions and divestitures within Johnson & Johnson MedTech. This role involves collaborating with business leaders to shape strategy, improve capabilities and drive financial success.

Responsibilities

This leader will develop and lead a high-performing team and actively scout talent. As a member of the MedTech BD Executive Leadership Team, this leader will contribute to the business strategy and talent agenda, building capabilities in this space and ensuring strategic and financial results. Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Spearheading key transactions and leading portfolio optimization through acquisitions and divestitures.
  • Designing performance measures, and objectives for successful execution of M&A initiatives.
  • Delivering executive reports on critical deliverables and analyzing post-acquisition outcomes.
  • Standardizing processes across due diligence, integrations and divestitures and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Develop and implement the strategic framework for all integration and divestiture activities, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

Integration Management

  • Leads all aspects of the integration of new transactions and assets into J&J, ensuring new product technology and business development knowledge is integrated seamlessly
  • Develops an integration plan either before signing or between signing and closing, and often will have a meaningful role in the due diligence process
  • Responsible for the end-to-end integration process for newly acquired businesses, ensuring seamless alignment with existing operations.
  • Leads strategic cross-functional teams and ensure teams are following the appropriate guidelines to facilitate effective integration and transition plans.
  • Evaluates critical assumptions, risks, and opportunities to determine organizational impact and builds mitigation strategies as needed
  • Develops playbooks and standard processes for complex and strategic integrations to build capabilities in this area

Divestiture Oversight

  • Lead the planning and execution of divestiture processes, including identifying non-core assets and developing strategies for divestment.
  • Partner with legal and financial teams to ensure compliance and optimization during the divestiture process.
  • Builds upon existing playbooks and standard processes for strategic divestitures to improve capabilities in this area and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Responsible for cross-functional teams to drive integration/divestiture initiatives and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Cultivates a culture of collaboration and open communication among all partners involved in integration and divestiture processes.
  • Works closely with Business Leaders, Integration Leaders and Senior Leadership to ensure critical business metrics, deal models, etc are met and exceeded

Change Management

  • Design and implement change management strategies to address the challenges associated with integration and divestitures.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to ensure understanding and acceptance of changes.

Performance Measurement

  • Establish metrics and performance indicators to evaluate the success of integration and divestiture activities.
  • Regularly report progress and results to the executive team and provide

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, finance, engineering or related field required; Master’s level degree preferred
  • 15 years of progressive multi-functional experience required; MedTech / Healthcare experience preferred; Entrepreneurial or start-up experience considered a strong plus
  • The ability to influence and lead multifunctional teams toward a shared vision in collaboration with customers and partners to ultimately deliver value creating opportunities.
  • Makes timely, sound judgments in complex, uncertain and changing environments, following J&J procedural guidelines
  • High caliber integration & divestiture or business development leader with a track record of negotiating complex transactions, driving decisions and delivering results
  • Experience successfully leading integration and divestiture projects in a corporate environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex business scenarios and develop effective strategies.
  • Expertise in project management methodologies and tools.
  • Track record leading large teams, balancing multiple customers and partners in a large environment and developing talent
  • Ability to prepare and present complex issues to Sr Leadership in a clear and concise manner
  • Outstanding relationship management skills, with the ability to represent J&J to the external MedTech ecosystem, including acquired companies and buyers of divested companies
  • Strong intellectual curiosity and deep passion to continuously learn about new clinical and technical developments and platforms. Understands the clinical, scientific, technical, organizational, and regulatory processes in MedTech.
  • Up to 30% domestic and international travel will be required

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

194,000 - 356,500

Additional Description For Pay Transparency

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis. Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.
