What are the responsibilities and job description for the Site Safety Manager (Construction) position at Johnson-Laux Construction?
The Safety Coordinator reports to the Operations Manager. Responsibilities are focused on maintaining the safest possible workplace and OSHA Compliance. The Safety Coordinator will be hands-on and interact with our field personnel and management team daily.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assists in controlling hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through interface with project management, field employees, and supervisory personnel.
- Communicate policy and procedures to management and field employees
- Collaborate with teams to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, standards, policies, and/or procedures.
- Provides technical expertise to managers, field employees, and supervisors in establishing techniques and procedures for the elimination or control of unsafe behaviors, environments, and hazards.
- Conduct regular hazard analyses of project operations and daily activities.
- Develop and conduct risk assessments and Job Task Analyses for relevant tasks
- Lead Safety Meetings
- Conducts regular walk through safety inspections of construction areas to determine compliance with company rules and regulation.
- Assist with development and revisions of the SSSP as site conditions change.
- Have a high level of hazard awareness and mitigation knowledge.
- Completes reports of inspections in a timely manner documenting any noted deficiencies and follow up to ensure corrective action.
- Conducts staff and craft safety training to advance safety awareness and understanding in accordance with both the Company and Customer’s safety programs.
- Conduct orientation and training as needed.
- Investigates any accident, incident and near miss occurring on the jobsite and completes all required documentation on a timely basis.
- Performs special projects and completes all other duties as assigned or requested for the general support of the organization
- Foster a team environment when advising on needed corrections
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma and/or postsecondary diploma in OH&S or related field. CHST, CIT, MOT, OSHA 30, and OSHA 500, or related industry experience
- 5 years of safety management experience and related education specializing in on-site construction Environmental Health and Safety management.
- Basic knowledge of construction safety work rules and relevant OSHA requirements and regulations including, OSHA Part 1910 and 1926 Safety requirements, NEC, NFPA and ANSI standards for construction.
- Basic understanding of state Workers Compensation laws and reporting requirements.
- Intermediate PC skills with experience in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Procore are required.
- Strong technical writing ability
- A strong supporter of collaboration in an effort to gather the best solutions
- Ability to address and train groups of 25-30
- Ability to adapt to a changing work environment
- Ability to act independently with minimal daily direction
- Ability to work closely with all levels of Johnson-Laux Construction
- High energy and self-motivated
Preferred
- Certified OSHA Outreach Trainer for the Construction Industry
- Proficient in the use of Google Apps and internet navigation
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- First Aid/CPR Instructor
- ASP, CSP
- OHS Degree
Salary : $68,700 - $92,200
