Johnson & Quin specializes in producing large volume direct mail and integrated communication campaigns for well-known marketing companies throughout the U.S. Our teams use the latest technology in data processing, security, personalization and mailing to create highly personalized and variable communications.
POSITION FUNCTION:
Responsible for setting up production steps to operate digital color inkjet web printing to produce quality direct mail pieces onto large rolls. Digital Press Operators will run up to two presses during their shift while following Quality Control protocol before and throughout the run of the jobs.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate continuous high resolution, color variable print imaging equipment on Screen TruePress equipment.
- Set up in line finishing equipment such as in-line perfing & hole punching, set up print files and adjust imaging position from job tickets.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and correct operating problems affecting the quality and timeliness of the printed materials.
- Perform production quality check lists in compliance with work instructions to ensure consistent quality during the run of each job.
- Perform production record / sequence verification steps with variable data jobs.
- Maintain various departmental logs – paper, print production logs, equipment supplies inventory, etc.
- Perform machine repairs as needed for preventative maintenance of the digital inkjet presses. Complex repairs are to be escalated to supervisor to evaluate for further vendor technical support.
- Drafts and sends emails prior to shift turnover with feedback on production status throughout the shift.
- Communicates with external vendors via phone, email, and in-person to support department equipment maintenance.
- Completes other various duties as assigned by shift supervisor.
- Adheres to all Security Policies and Procedures as referenced in the Employee Security Handbook.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Manufacturing environment. Onsite full-time schedule Sunday - Thursday 10pm- 6am. Occasional weekends as production needs require.

Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2-3 years previous machine operating experience with digital presses.
- Experience with Screen Digital Presses preferred
- Capable of lifting and pushing approximately 50 lbs.
- Ability to make positioning, and registration adjustments
- Good mechanical skills to set up, maintain and repair various components of digital presses and finishing equipment
- Read rulers for exact measurements on setups
- Good mathematical skills for logs and inventories
- High attention to detail and very quality conscientious
- Ability to read and interpret job tickets
- Knowledge of Outlook and basic data entry in Excel
- Good written and oral communication skills
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift and push up to 50 pounds on occasion
- Must be able to bend, reach, pick-up, push, and pull at least 15 pounds.
- Ability to read and understand work related documentation regarding job specifications & computer screen
- Able to match colors for quality checks
- Must have the manual dexterity to operate machines and equipment & operate keyboard for computer usage
