What are the responsibilities and job description for the Independent Flooring Installer position at Johnson's Flooring?
This position will handle flooring installations sold out of both of our locations (Clayton and Springboro). The Flooring Installer (Subcontractor) will work as an independent subcontractor while providing flooring installation services to our customers. Jobs will mostly consist of carpet and luxury vinyl plank/tile (LVP/LVT) installation. The installer will be held to the high quality standards that our company has become known for during our decades in business. We have a consistent pipeline of flooring installations but workload can vary week-by-week with all installations occurring Monday - Friday.

Requirements - General
- Installer must have a van, tools, and crew
- Ability to work out of both of our locations (Clayton and Springboro)
- Current liability and workers compensation insurance
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be willing to install in all levels of a home, move furniture (you are paid extra when furniture involved), remove old flooring (you are paid extra and no charge for disposing at our warehouses), and install new tack strip (when needed).
- Certified Flooring Installer (CFI) certification a plus
Requirements - Carpet Installation Specific
- At least 3 years of carpet installation experience
- Every carpet installation must be power stretched (exception of small rooms/closets)
- Installer skills must include stair installation (waterfall, rolled, pie shaped, upholstered), pattern carpet installation, and carpet seaming
Requirements - Luxury Vinyl Installation Specific
- At least 3 years of luxury vinyl installation experience
- Must be willing to do floor prep - including filling low spots with patch compound, grinding high spots, repairing wood subfloors, or any other work necessary to meet industry standards.
