Vertical Earth is seeking a Heavy Highway Estimator to join our team to estimate work required for particular public and private construction projects by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. The civil construction estimator will estimate labor, material, equipment and time requirements in order to be able to compute the overall cost of a project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and detailed estimates for road work projects.
- Perform quantity take-offs, cost analysis, and bid preparation using Planswift, Agtek and ProEstimate.
- Review project documents (blueprints, specs, contracts) to ensure accuracy in bids.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and field staff to ensure estimates reflect actual project conditions.
- Sign on and coordinate with subcontractors, handling RFIs, submittals, and tracking material orders.
- Engage with clients to understand project requirements and deliver cost-effective solutions.
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors, ensuring competitive pricing and quality service.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with clients, subcontractors and vendors.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience as an Estimator in heavy civil construction.
- Proficiency with Planswift, ProEstimate, Agtek and other relevant construction software.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Local or regional experience within Georgia (preferred).
- Capable of managing and prioritizing multiple projects and bids.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work well under pressure to meet project deadlines.
