Johnston County Department of Social Services has an immediate opening for an Administrative Officer I - Operation Manager. The Operations Manager is a new position to the agency, due to the agency's restructuring growth. This position will assist with improving the overall functions of the agency, which includes but is not limited to, supervising the Mailroom & Housekeeping Departments, scanning projects, agency’s fleet cars and other general managerial functions.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Operations Manager will be responsible for the organization and reorganization of the agency.
This employee will develop, implement and maintain records retention and destruction program, to ensure the highest standards of data integrity and compliance with Federal and State mandates.
This position will provide a variety of administrative support to assist with the overall functioning of the agency.
Will collaborate with all divisions within the agency as well as other Johnston County Departments and outside vendors.
This positon will also serve as the primary person responsible for the coordination of agency staff move to the new DSS building.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills & abilities:
- Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of public & business administration
- Considerable knowledge of modern office procedures, practices & equipment
- Considerable knowledge of the organization and structure of state & local government agencies
- Considerable knowledge of budgeting, procurement, and operational practices & procedures
- Ability to select, train & supervise employees engaged in business operations
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, County & State officials, and the general public.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and workgroups to implement leadership's vision and strategic plan
Desired Education and Experience
Graduation from a four-year college or university and one year of experience in personnel, budgeting, research or administrative management; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preference will be given to those with prior experience in planning and managing a business or governmental program.
