Johnston County Department of Social Services has an immediate opening for a Processing Assistant III.
The Johnston County Department of Social Services is seeking a highly motivated, professional Customer Service Navigator to join the Economic Services Department. This position requires the person to stand and sit for long periods of time. This position will assist customers who seek services from the agency by welcoming and assisting customers in the lobby area with applying for services, scanning documents into the Kiosk system, front desk/reception area when needed, registering customers, assisting with mailroom duties which includes picking up and distributing mail on the agency’s campus within Johnston County.
Periodic performance of emergency on-call duties may also be required. This position will require you to stand or sit for long periods of time. Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, the ability to multi-task, be people-oriented, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills are important for interacting with internal and external customers. Excellent organization and computer skills are a must with attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications:
Associates Degree with extensive advanced experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, such as customizing page layouts, catering templates, capturing and recording data, using shortcuts and formula functions, building charts and graphs, sorting and filtering data.
Preference will be given to individuals who have executive assistant experience.

- Providing a variety of office support and technical assistance to accomplish mail flow throughout the agency.
- Receiving, prepping and scanning mail into the electronic data management system.
- Interacting with internal and external customers in regards to supply requests and orders, delivery of mail, and questions regarding items scanned.
- The person selected for this position must perform the above duties while ensuring that timeliness and documentation requirements are maintained as mandated by State and County regulations.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
- Person selected must be able to lift at least 30lbs. and have an valid North Carolina driver’s license.
- General knowledge of office or wok unit procedures, methods and practices.
- General knowledge of and ability to use correct spelling, punctuation and specialized vocabulary; ability to proofread.
- General knowledge of office accounting, database management, and record keeping procedures, mathematics and their application in the work environment.
- Ability to use spreadsheet software applications such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Ability to learn and apply a variety of guidelines.
- Ability to properly handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Ability to use a variety of office equipment
- Ability to work with people with courtesy and tact.
- Ability to screen communications based on predetermined guidelines to independently respond or route inquiries.
- Ability to record and compile information based on general guidelines.
- Ability to gather and give information and instructions regarding the work process or procedures.
- Ability to balance and reconcile figures.
