Summary:
The MCC Scheduling Operator II functions as a central point of coordination for a variety of requests across the Ballad system. An advanced call system and multiple software packages are used to effect a solution to these requests. This position receives requests via phone and in-house orders to schedule appointments for approximately 1,000 medical procedures involving ambulatory care, outpatient procedures, and both inpatient and outpatient Cardiovascular Services procedures utilizing the SMS Resource Scheduling pathways. This position schedules educational events for staff within the Ballad Health Care System for classes and/or services through "The Professionals" Centramax software program. “The Professionals” software is also utilized to schedule members of the communities served by Ballad for classes and services provided by any of the Ballad facilities. A Scheduling Operator II also can serve as a preceptor to new staff within the medical call center. They serve as a role model training and resource to any new or current call center team member.
Duties include providing professional telephone answering and computer interactive scheduling services for the Ballad system, maintaining confidentiality with matters relating to patients and staff at Ballad. In addition to telephone and computer skills, the ability to use copiers, faxes and printers is required. Preparing and sending information for both the professional and non-professional consumer is completed daily. Flexibility is required to adapt to various situations as prescribed by physician or management. Age of patient can be from neonatal to geriatric for any request.
Accuracy of data entry in order to avoid creating duplicate Medical Record numbers is of utmost importance
Requirements:
1. Full working knowledge of medical terminology is required.
2. Minimum of two years experience (or equivalent) with a medical call center dealing with diagnostic test scheduling along with a thorough knowledge of preps required for testing. Plus a minimum of five years of related medical experience.
3. Proficient skills in typing and the use of desktop computers. Working knowledge of software programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook and Access.
4. Capable of handling a highly visible job which deals with physicians, office staff, hospital staff, and patients.
