Position Summary
Responsible for fulfilling the Branch delivery function for customers in assigned coverage area. Responsibilities include driving, route sequencing, order verification, loading and unloading of orders, return service and providing feedback from customers. The Delivery Driver position will be knowledgeable of the DOT rules and regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely operate company vehicles and equipment consistent with DOT, state and company standards
- Maintain positive relationships with customers by providing “exceptional service” that includes accurate and timely delivery of products.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or need for repairs to supervisor.
- Load and unload trucks.
- Verify customer shipments against shipping manifests for accuracy.
- Prepare route to ensure timely, accurate and efficient deliveries.
- Fills or assists in filling customer orders by picking product using RF scanner, ensuring accuracy by scanning barcodes; placing and, or packing product into cartons or onto a pallet to provide damage-free shipment.
- Drive straight body vehicles including box truck to deliver supplies and equipment to customer’s place of business or job site.
- Maintain cleanliness of inside of truck, cab and box.
- Maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive expedited delivery instructions.
- Immediately communicate delivery, traffic and safety issues to supervisor.
- Record sales or delivery information as applicable, obtain customer signature on receipt for pick up or delivery.
- Serve as a key field contact for gathering accurate customer service and delivery expectations.
- Performs general warehouse and other duties as assigned.
- Operates hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, order pickers, and other equipment safely and in accordance with organizational procedures.
- Monitor’s equipment and promptly reports any safety or maintenance concerns to supervisors.
- Adheres to all company policies, procedures, standards, and business ethics codes.
- Maintains professional communications when interacting with customers and coworkers. Treats all customers and coworkers with a helpful and courteous attitude.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Required:
- High School Diploma / GED required OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Clean driving record.
- Must be at least 21 years old to apply.
Preferred:
- 6 months experience in warehouse operations in a wholesale environment.
- Forklift certification.
- Experience with computer or barcode driven inventory management systems.
