Tasks
Key Responsibilities:
- Dynamic Interpretation: Accurately interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa during classes, meetings, and school events.
- Collaborative Support: Work closely with faculty to provide effective communication support for deaf or hard-of-hearing students.
- Professionalism: Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Team Synergy: Collaborate with other school staff (e.g. TOD, SLP, Ed Aud) to ensure seamless communication.
- Continuous Learning: Stay current with best practices and emerging trends in ASL interpretation.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in ASL Interpreting or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Certification: Certification through RID
- Certification: Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA)
- Skills: Strong communication and translation skills.
- Independence and Teamwork: Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment: Dedication to providing high-quality interpretation services.
