TITLE: Preschool Special Education Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS:
REPORTS TO: Administrator of DECC Programs
LOCATION: Delaware Early Childhood Center and/or surrounding area
JOB GOALS: The Preschool Special Education teacher works collaboratively as a member of the Preschool Programs’ team to implement high quality and holistic early education programming utilizing evidence-based curriculum and supports. Additionally, teacher serves as a consultant to families, school staff, and community programs to promote developmental growth and kindergarten readiness.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be willing to travel locally to provide educational services to students within their natural environments (home, community preschool/child care)
SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is a full-time, 10 1 year inclusive of 188 school days plus 19 additional days of employment during summer months. Salary is based off of the Lake Forest School District Teacher salary scale.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job shall be evaluated in accordance with policies approved by the Lake Forest Board of Education and Delaware Department of Education.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must hold or be eligible for educator licensure and/or certification in Delaware for Early Childhood Special Education Teacher
- Experience with IEP writing and implementation required; PowerSchool experience preferred
- Effective communication and interpersonal relational skills, including awareness and inclusion of culturally and socio-economically diverse populations
- Competent in Microsoft Office, lesson planning and objective documentation systems, specifically Teaching Strategies GOLD and Creative Curriculum
- Strong knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement evidence-based curriculum with fidelity, including creating lesson plans aligned with program mission and standards, analysis of classroom assessments and data, and individual children’s interests, strengths, and abilities
- Design and maintain a diverse and inclusive, language-rich learning environment that promotes engagement, discovery, play, and socialization
- Establish and sustain classroom routines to the meet the children’s daily needs, personal care routines, meal times, learning activities, arrival and dismissal, and active supervision during all aspects of the school day
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of adaptations, modifications, and accommodations for students with IEP’s
- Complete timely and accurate documentation around attendance, observations, student progress, assessments, and screenings
- Maintain regular, open, respectful, and professional communication with children, their families, and all members of the DECC team with sensitivity to the culture, traditions, lifestyles, language, and values of each individual, family, and the community.
- Conduct and/or participate in home visits and family conferences for each child enrolled
- Work closely with the special education coordinator and related service providers to ensure students needs are met
- Attends and actively participates in transition and IEP meetings to determine appropriate programming for students
- Participate in the development and implementation of a Professional Development Plan to maintain required certifications and enhance professional growth. Participate in professional learning, training, workshops, and conferences as required
- Compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, policies, and procedures
- Adhere to all Lake Forest School District and Delaware Early Childhood Center personnel policies and maintains professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Other Duties as assigned by Administrator
