Duties and Responsibilities
Daily attendance, on time, is mandatory.
START UP LINE:
o Setup, startup equipment per die book instructions
§ Able to use a pallet jack to move heavy equipment into position. Must be physically capable of moving and positioning large and heavy equipment sometimes with and sometimes without assistance. (Assistance is required depending on the size and weight of equipment being moved).
§ Will be working with and around the following equipment: (this list is an example of the equipment that may be used and is not intended as a complete list of equipment that could potentially be used.)
o Extruders and co-extruders
o Electric saws
o Hand saws and hand cutters
o Hot dies
o Pullers
o Water tanks filled with non-potable water
o Fly knives
o Pneumatic tools (i.e. nail guns)
§ Able to lift and position 5-15 lb. dies on stationary bolts located from waist to chest height.
§ Able to read an instruction book written in English to determine the equipment and parts needed and the specs required by the customer.
§ Able to use hand tools, i.e. hammers, nail guns, staple guns, wrenches, tape guns, etc...
§ Able to accurately read a tape measure.
§ Able to accurately read calipers.
Fill hopper (lifting a 25 lb. bucket to a height of 6 feet)
PRODUCE PARTS:
Maintain specs per customer expectations.
Complete paperwork accurately, legibly and completely.
Control rejects and scrap.
CLEAN:
Keep area clean and free of debris, water, slip and trip hazards.
Keep the ends of lines unblocked for emergency exits.
Keep electrical panels, fire extinguishers, and exits unblocked.
TEARDOWN LINE:
Teardown equipment and ensure that all tooling items, i.e. dies, heater bands, etc. are returned to the tooling department.
Report any equipment issues and/or damage to supervisor.
Return equipment to proper area.
TRAINING
Work with others to learn new jobs.
Teach others your current knowledge.
Verified completion of all Level 1 requirements.
Assists in training new employees in safe work habits.
Qualifications
This is a full-time position, 5 days per week/8.5 hours per day. (Or 4 days a week/12 hours a day as needed).
Hours are dependent on shift being worked.
Experience in plastic extrusion is required.
Advocates for safety compliance.
Verified in all Level 1 skill sets by successfully completing level up tests per the career banding program.
Meets all Level 1 requirements of the career banding program.
Ability to read a tape measure and calipers.
Ability to read spec sheets.
Ability to read and write.
Capable of communicating effectively with others regarding problems and transferring information.
Able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
Attention to detail is important.
Capable of working and problem solving with minimal supervision.
Working conditions
This job involves shift work, and you may be working days, evenings, or nights. There is a possibility of mandatory working of weekends and holidays, as needed. This is manufacturing work in an unheated, non-air-conditioned warehouse.
Physical requirements
This job will require the candidate to be able to walk and stand on concrete floors for 8 hours. It will be necessary to be able to lift 25 lbs. to a level of 6 feet, frequently during the shift. The job will also entail a lot of bending, stooping, twisting, crouching, walking up and down stairs, lifting of 25-30 lbs. frequently and manual dexterity.
