As an Incident Management Investigator, you will be expected to act with autonomy in order to address any instances of abuse that may be reported, make the appropriate notifications, complete the necessary reports and ensure all recommendations and corrective actions are completed. In addition, you will be expected to collect data for trend reviews and assist in identifying where areas of training or improvement could be beneficial. The Investigator is also responsible to conduct incident management training for new staff joining the agency as well as annual and as-needed training.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Have a thorough understanding of OPWDD Regulations and the New York State Justice Center 
  • Be trained as an agency Investigator for Reportable Incidents and remain up-to-date on latest trainings and updated regulations and procedures
  • Responsible for the research, investigation and follow-up of all Reportable Incidents in accordance with agency policy and OPWDD Part 624 and 625 regulations 
  • Be an active participant in the agency’s Special Review Committee
  • Collect and analyze incident related data and assist in developing and implementing quality improvement measures
    • Primary oversight for agency abuse hotline and responsible for making immediate appropriate notifications and reports 
    • Develop and facilitate incident related trainings for new employees, as well as annual and as needed trainings
          • Provide assistance in matters related to safety and security of the people supported and agency employees

           

          While the majority of these duties may be completed on our main campus, there may be times when you are asked to travel to any of our residential locations throughout Sullivan County.

          An Incident Management Investigator needs to have an eye for detail, the ability to listen and understand what others are trying to convey, be detail oriented, have strong written and oral communication skills, possess a positive attitude, have patience, and work well with others, all while ensuring the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism.

           

          What certifications or skills do I need to be an Incident Management Investigator?

          An Incident Management Investigator must have an associate’s degree (bachelor’s degree preferred) and three (3) years of prior experience in the direct or indirect provision of services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities OR experience in conducting investigations.   Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality.   A clean/valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to lift/push/pull 50 lbs. Prior investigative/law experience is a plus!

           

           

          Salary range for this position is $45,000.00 - $55,000.00
