Joint Implant Surgeons of Florida is a private, medical practice specializing in Orthopedics, Spine and Pain Management.
Job Summary: The MRI Technologist operates magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes and assists in MRI office with patient flow, scheduling and paperwork. This position could be a part time MRI position, or fulltime being shared in the X-Ray department.
Job Duties Include:
· Perform complex tasks associated with the operation of high field strength magnets and related equipment to produce special radiographic images of specific body parts.
· Position patients for MR scans using immobilization and protective equipment to comply with government regulations and to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
· Screen patients for MR safety prior to procedure performance.
· Assist and correspond with radiologist regarding procedure performance, including image quality.
· Assist with department administrative duties when imaging duties are not required (including scheduling & clerical functions).
· Evaluate MR scans for technical quality, collate processed images and sequence of exposure and label appropriately.
· Maintain accurate patient records.
· Provide orientation for new technologists along with education, and training for student technologists.
· Provide for the psychological and physical needs of patients for MR procedures.
· Assist with education and training of new, department staff.
· Keep updated on new protocols and MR imaging techniques.
· Perform requirement equipment QC/QA tests.
· Assist Radiology management with equipment maintenance and repairs.
· Assist Radiology and Practice management with accreditation requirements.
· Perform other related duties incidental to the work as needed.
Scheduled shifts are weekdays only; no weekends required.
Hours run between 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM
Requirements
Skills / Abilities:· Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
· Knowledge of current trends and techniques of MRI and x-ray equipment.
· Ability to operate equipment effectively, operation of computer for recordkeeping purposes.
· Ability to establish effective working relationships with patients and other staff.·
Ability to clearly explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation.
Education / Experience / Certifications
· Graduate of ARRT approved School of Radiology Technology
· 1yr experience in MRI, experience with Esaote scanner a plus
ARRT certification in Radiology
· ARRT certification in MR technology
· BLS certification
Physical Requirements· Assist with positioning patients, Heavy lifting: up to 100 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs. · Must be able to stand, stoop and lift and walk without restrictions.
