What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forklift Operator position at Joint Logistics Managers, Inc. (JLMI)?
Responsibilities
- Unload material from delivery trucks using government furnished forklifts up to 10K and other material handling equipment including pallet jacks
- Operate up to 10-ton motor vehicle to empty recycling containers located at recycling collection points throughout the Base
- Ensure recycling containers throughout the Base are serviced and emptied on a routine basis
- Prepare recyclable material(s) according to processor/end user specifics, store prepared materials, and take loads of recyclable materials to processors and end users
- Assist with monitoring and record keeping of the recycling program by collecting and tracking receipts and recording weights of recyclable commodities when needed
- Comply with regulations and policies concerning safety and practices of good housekeeping in and around the recycling center
- Operate recycling equipment to include a can crusher, glass crusher, and paper and cardboard balers
- Use various hand tools such as grinders, metal cutters, reciprocating saws, and basic mechanic hand tools during processing and preparation of recyclables for shipment to end users
- Ability to work outdoors and throughout all seasons during at least half of the work period
Requirements
- Must be qualified/licensed to operate forklifts up to 10K and cargo trucks up to 10-ton. In addition, contractor personnel shall have a minimum of one (1) year experience working as a forklift driver.
- Contractor operating MHE will be qualified and licensed in the operation in accordance with OSHA, 29 CFR 1910.178 and MCO 5100.19F
- One (1) year experience working in a professional setting
- Ability to work outdoors and throughout all seasons
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and organizational skills to coordinate and resolve complex communication or logistical related issues
- Highly flexible, ability to work and handle uncertainty in rapidly changing environment
- Be adaptable, enthusiastic, and trustworthy
- Acute attention to details
- Proactive, highly motivated, and flexible
- Shall possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to work independently
- Highly organized
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Programs
