Overview
Joint School District No. 171 is seeking an Athletic/Activities Director who will be responsible for the planning, management, and supervision of all athletic and extracurricular activities for grades 7–12 in a rural high school setting. This includes overseeing sports programs, student activities, and the community use of school facilities. The position requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to create a positive and inclusive environment that enhances student development and school pride.
This position reports to the high school principal and collaborates closely with other school leaders, faculty, and community stakeholders. The Athletic/Activities Director is expected to model the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and dedication to student success and community engagement.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in education, sports management, or a related field (Master’s preferred). Teaching license or administrative credential is strongly preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience in education, coaching, or a related leadership role. Familiarity with the needs of rural schools and communities is highly desirable.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple programs, events, and projects simultaneously. Proficiency in budgeting, scheduling, and facility management. Knowledge of safety standards and risk management for student activities and events. Experience with event planning and logistics.
Physical and Availability Requirements:
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and non-traditional hours to attend events and meetings. Capability to lift and move equipment and materials as needed.
