What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hospice - Home Maker position at JOL Healthcare, Inc.?
Overview:
The Homemaker primary function is to provide personal assistance services to the patient under IDG/T Plan of Care, in their place of residence; to assist in providing a safe and clean environment, work cooperatively with patient and family and share observations and problems with the supervisor.
Duties:
-Promote positive, supportive, respectful communication to patient/family and other employees. Maintains patient confidentiality.
-Provide an environment which promotes respect for patient, privacy, and property.
-Provides light housekeeping, laundry services, errands, assists with meal preparation, per plan of care.
-Provide necessary skill to appropriately report changes to ensure continuity of care.
-Practice accepted infection control principles. Provide a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for the patient.
-Provide skills necessary to perform assigned functions according to the Hospice policy.
-Contribute to the management and efficient operation of the Hospice and demonstrate effective time management skills.
-Demonstrate commitment, professional growth, and competency by attending required in-services. Promote the Hospice philosophy and administrative policies to ensure quality of care.
Skills:
-Experience: One year experience in providing services to individuals needing homemaker/companion assistance, is preferred.
-Must be able to read and write in English and follow written and verbal instructions in English effectively. Demonstrates interest in the welfare of ill and elderly. Competent to perform tasks assigned by supervisor.
-Transportation: Reliable transportation and valid auto liability insurance.
-Criminal History: Must agree to and pass a criminal history check.
Environmental and Working Conditions:
-Works in patient’s residence in various conditions, possible exposure to blood and body fluids and infectious diseases; ability to work flexible schedule, ability to travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather.
Physical and Mental Effort:
-Prolonged standing and walking required. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move patients. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines, to identify patient needs, to make quick decisions and meet patient/family psychosocial needs. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Ability to utilize durable medical equipment in the home.
Education:
High School Diploma preferred.

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
