Summary
Under the Supervision of the Marketing & Communications Superintendent, the Digital Media Specialist/Videographer will help develop, organize, and manage engaging content for the Park District website(s) and social media platforms including Instagram and Facebook and assist with day to day operations in the Marketing & Communications department.
Essential Duties

- Plan and implement social content strategies to drive views, engagements, and followers.
- Showcase the success stories of the park district’s Park Board, Park Foundation, staff and teams (SRJC, Skate Academy, Blue Tides, Synergy Dance/Poms, Kippers) to build a strong online presence.
- Shoot and edit video/photo content, ensuring high-quality and engaging visuals for park district events and programs.
- Interact with followers, respond to comments and messages.
- Monitor social media metrics, analyze performance, and work with Superintendent to adjust strategies to optimize results.
- Work closely with the marketing/communications team and park district staff to align content with overall marketing goals and messaging.
- Stay updated on the latest social media trends and best practices to keep content fresh and relevant.
- Develop and manage a park district app for news & updates, programs & events, athletics, fitness, park information, staff contact info, rentals, and notifications.
- Manage Park District website(s), including the Joliet Park District Golf website.
- Assist with project request for events and programs, which includes both paper and digital design.
- Assist with program guide four times a year.
- Able to attend multiple programs and events, which includes evenings, weekends and some holidays.
- Other duties as assigned.
Hours
Full time, exempt. May include days, evenings, holidays, and weekends.

Work Environment
Employee’s general work area is indoors in a smoke-free environment with controlled temperature and fluorescent lighting. Will include working outdoor events with varying weather conditions and temperatures throughout the year. Depending on the event, there may be loud noise, whistles, crowds, etc.

Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field preferred but not mandatory.
- 2-3 years as a Social Content Creator, Social Media Manager, or similar role preferred.
Additional Eligibility Requirements
- Appropriate training/license/certification for operating a drone. Can be acquired within 90 days of employment.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, particularly Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook.
- Proficiency in video production, including shooting (camera/video camera/drone), editing, and post-production.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Creative thinking and ability to generate innovative content ideas.
- Knowledge of social media analytics tools and ability to interpret data to optimize content.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro) and graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Canva, InDesign and Illustrator).
- Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire date.
