Salary Range: $60,000 DOQ

Summary
The Event Manager reports to the Director of Golf Grounds and Horticulture and is responsible for managing the day to day tasks associated with events and weddings scheduled at the Horticultural Center and Greenhouse.
Essential Duties

- Respond to phone calls, emails, comments, and suggestions in a timely manner
- Schedule and conduct tours of the Horticultural Center and Green House
- Schedule and book events with clients
- Market the Horticultural Center via outside marketing, open houses, vendor fairs, etc
- Meet with clients to discuss details, floor plans, and details related to event
- Coordinate all components of the event including, but not limited to, event packages, accommodation, design and décor, and other special event orders
- Prepare and modify rental contracts as necessary
- Collect certificate of insurance from client
- Collect payment from clients when due
- Work closely with caterer to ensure everything is ready for the event
- Act as a liaison between Joliet Park District and vendors
- Ensure room set up and clean-up is completed
- Supervise and schedule Event and Greenhouse Staff
- Coordinate vendor deliveries; recording, coordinating, and signing off on invoices of product deliveries
- Prepare, type and maintain accurate event, department and financial files, transactions, records, correspondence, schedules and reports
- Complete all required assigned training in a timely fashion
Hours
This position is full time and may require days, evenings, holidays, and weekends

Work Environment
Position is primarily in an indoor, temperature controlled environment, however, may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions including, but not limited to, rain, sun, heat, cold, etc. The environment may be loud at times due to music and guests.
Physical Demands
This position requires the ability to stand, walk, reach and bend for long hours at a time and lift over 50 pounds occasionally.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in customer service and/or event planning required
- High School diploma required
- Degree or certificate in Hospitality Management, Marketing, or Business preferred
- Previous managerial experience preferred
- CPR certified or obtained within 30 days of hire
- Food Sanitation License required
- B.A.S.S.E.T Training required or obtained within 15 days of hire
Additional Eligibility Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Passion for helping others/hospitality
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to build guest relations
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
- Knowledge of State and local laws regarding food handling and liquor laws
