Food and Beverage Paid Internship (Summer 2025)
Join one of the most talked about brands in independent baseball and launch your career in the sports entertainment industry! The Joliet Slammers Food & Beverage Intern will work in a unique, fun-filled environment with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience assisting the Director of Food & Beverage in all facets of daily operations in addition to learning about cost analysis, special event coordination and planning, scheduling, training and development of team members, menu development and cost controls, cash handling, culinary skill development for large-scale execution, menu design and various administrative duties within human resources. The ideal candidate must possess a strong work ethic with an interest in hospitality management, sports marketing from a food aspect, special event management and/or general restaurant management and catering. The Director of F&B is a well rounded Chef that has not only ran a franchise as the Director of operations but also ran many restaurant concepts including casinos, catering, country clubs and even cooking for many celebrities. He was trained at the Le Cordon Bleu in 2008 and likes to invest in training others.
FUN ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with the hiring, supervising, training and scheduling of more than 60 game day employees
- Assist with daily preparation and shut down processes
- Conduct daily stocking and inventory of concession stands
- Complete statistical food and labor analysis for reporting and planning purposes
- Assist with planning and preparing for non-game day and special events
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of F&B
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be available full-time (can work around school schedule), in-person from May 1 (if able)-September 1 (if able), 2024 (part time starting in March if available)
- Willingness to work long hours including nights, weekends and holidays in addition to all 48 home games and select non-game day and special events
- A team player who is willing to collaborate and work well with other departments within the Slammers organization
- Strong communication and top notch customer service skills
- Extremely organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be willing to have fun, and treat fellow employees with respect
