Position Title:Transportation Driver PT

Position Summary:
As part of the Joliet Township PACE Community Vehicle Program, the Transportation Driver will offer special use paratransit services to residents of Joliet Township. The driver will be responsible for maintaining the vehicle, tracking, and reporting on the fleet, and fulfilling trip schedules from door to destination of residents. Attendance at orientation and training sessions, as required by PACE, is expected of all drivers. The pilot phase of the program will provide either two 12-passenger vans or three 7-passenger vans equipped with an ADA Lift, First Aid Kit, and Bodily Fluid Kit. The program will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; flexibility in scheduling is required. The program will provide a fixed rate for transportation in Joliet Township with flexible scheduling within a one-hour window. Transportation will be offered within the boundaries of the NW quadrant at Theodore and Gaylord to the NE quadrant at Rosalind and Farrell Rd, the SE quadrant at Cherry Hill and Schweizer Rd, and the SW quadrant at Laraway Rd and CenterPoint Way. There will also be an additional 10 miles for medical appointments.
Responsibilities/ Performance Requirements
· Safely provide transport for Township residents to and from medical appointments, personal appointments, and organized trips in a courteous and professional manner that represents the Township in a positive manner.
· Complete all training and adhere to PACE Mass Transit and Joliet Township policies
· Maintain daily operation records and provide feedback on daily route scheduling, fleet management, vehicle maintenance, and resident scheduling
· Offer safe and reliable transportation for Joliet Township residents on rotation schedules, 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, holidays included
· Conduct out-trips for other Township events and assist in special events as required
· Assist residents from the door of the pickup location onto the bus utilizing the wheelchair lift and/or stairs, and return to the door of the drop-off location, if needed. Carries and loads oxygen tanks and follows basic instructions and precautions for their use.
· Assists in carrying small packages, groceries, or other client bags as needed
· Effectively communicate with staff, township leaders, and stakeholders
· Demonstrate integrity, high ethical standards and display a positive image of Joliet Township
· Perform other related tasks as required or assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Excellent expressive and receptive communication skills, including the ability to write clearly and competently and adeptness with multitasking
· Strong sense of responsibility and orientation to detail necessary
· Patience in working with mature adults and physically challenged individuals who may have limitations of hearing, eyesight, mobility, and cognitive impairments
· Is open and respectful of the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients and is willing and competent to work with a diverse client population.
· Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Required Qualifications
· Valid Illinois Drivers License
· Proficient in MS Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
· A minimum of 1 year of experience working with transportation of the public
· Proven ability to manage sensitive situations with emotional maturity, professionalism, and integrity
Special Requirements
· Must be 21 years of age or older.
· Submit to random drug and alcohol tests.
· Must be able to pass a background check and have a clean driving record.
Work Conditions:This position will require work on weekends, holidays, and evenings based on transportation demand
