What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Manufacturing Engineer position at Joliet?
About Joliet
American influence depends on sea power and the industrial base to support it, a base that has become dangerously anemic in the face of global competition.
Joliets mission is to build highly automated factories to produce ships for commercial & defense customers 5x faster and at globally competitive prices.
Our 3 areas of focus are :
- Reinventing the shipbuilding process with modular designs & highly automated production lines.
- Accelerating the shift to sustainable transport.
- Achieving full autonomy to relieve critical labor shortages.
We will rethink the process of building ships in America starting from first principles.
As SpaceX is to aerospace, Joliet will be to maritime.
About the role
As Joliets first Sr. Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for designing the machine that builds the machine - ushering in a new era of automated shipbuilding and borrowing lessons from the automotive / aerospace industry.
We will work with cross-functional teams throughout the entire lifecycle of a product (from design through prototype development and into full production). Our goal is to develop high quality and efficient manufacturing equipment and processes that will produce ships of all shapes and sizes, eventually spanning from 100ft - 500ft in length.
As an early member of an exciting startup team, youll have an opportunity to shape the future of global shipbuilding and re-establish American leadership in maritime.
Prior experience with shipbuilding is not required, though nice to have. Strong alignment with our mission, however, is mandatory.
