About this position:
The schedule includes rotating Saturdays (approximately one Saturday per month). High School diploma, 3 years mortgage experience, excellent communication skills, problem solving, and member service skills are required. Credit union or other financial institution experience is a plus.
The Mortgage Loan Officer is primarily responsible for the following:
- Interview mortgage applicants and quote rates and payments.
- Prepare necessary documents for mortgage and HELOC approvals including credit bureaus, debt ratio, verifications, etc.
- Prepare documents for mortgage closings.
- Perform closings both in office and at offsite locations.
- Order Title Insurance, appraisals, surveys, flood determination, and inspections.
- Work closely with appraisers and title companies.
- Input all mortgages into Loan Producer and collect source documents.
- Update and prepare annual HMDA Reports.
- Make sure collection comments are up to date.
- Monitor balloon mortgage review dates and contact members accordingly.
- Prepare discharges.
- Process payoff requests and post payoffs.
- Respond to emails and phone calls in a timely manner.
- Attend outside seminars.
- Make outside business development visits to realtors.
- Access all Member First Mortgage areas (Avista Mortgagebot web online applications) needed to assist members with products offered by the CUSO.
- May answer statement calls, balance inquiries, or calls on credit union services.
- Ensure that 1098s are sent out prior to January 31st of each year.
- Must satisfy all requirements of the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and complete the registration process as needed.
- Demonstrate an understanding of and adheres to the requirements of all federal, state, and local laws, including those of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), as it specifically relates to the job functions.
A successful Mortgage Loan Officer will also possess the following skills and abilities:
- At least two years credit union operations knowledge preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mortgage lending products preferred.
- Accounting, Loan, and Member Rep background helpful.
- Microsoft Outlook or similar email/calendar program knowledge.
- Experienced with job specific computer systems.
