POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Regulatory Accountant under minimal oversight is responsible for all federal requirements with the Office of Natural Resources Revenue (ONRR) of the U.S. Department of the Interior. The Senior Regulatory Accountant will prepare all internal and external documents and interact with various state and federal agencies; partners; member of the Revenue and Production team; and various other departments. This position reports and pays production taxes and royalties to the appropriate agencies. Additionally, the role is responsible for calculating appropriate accruals to ensure financial statement accuracy and preparing applicable general ledger account reconciliations. This position prepares journal entries, account reconciliations and other Ad hoc monthly. The Senior Regulatory Accountant reports to the Revenue Supervisor in the Denver office.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and submit monthly payments and supporting royalty reports for ONRR
- Identify the necessary processing plant unbundling requirements for ONRR and related deductible expenses.
- Respond to all direct ONRR requests, audits and questions/communications.
- Identify solutions for automation of unbundling process; keep current with regulatory changes requiring adjustments to our ONRR templates.
- Timely process of State royalties.
- Timely process Production taxes: severance, conservation, Ad Valorem and school taxes.
- Maintain current with regulatory changes impacting the accuracy of severance, conservation and Ad Valorem taxes.
- Professionally interact, using various communication methods, with various state and federal agencies, partners, members of the Revenue and Production team, and other departments in the company.
- Performs special projects of complex nature.
- Annually prepare and submit the Gross Products report to Sublette County with accuracy and validation to the Wyoming severance tax.
- Provide excellent customer service and resolve Ad hoc requests from individuals both internally and externally.
- Develop the skill set of their team, including themselves, in areas related to revenue accounting such as regulatory reporting, tax reporting and statutory requirements in the states we operate.
- Actively engage in cross-training initiatives to ensure the team has appropriate coverage of all working areas.

Qualifications
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Experience in working with regulatory agencies and an understanding of regulatory interpretation.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail to produce accurate work.
- Exercise sound judgement in selecting alternative solutions to complex problems.
- Quorum Business Solutions, or similar oil and gas system experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills to manage and analyze large amounts of data.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; successfully converse with all levels of the company, customers, and business associates
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent prioritization, organization and multi-task skills to beat or meet required deadlines
- Self-starter; thrives in a lean team, fast-paced environment and with varying degrees of direction

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant work experience
- 7 years of Oil and Gas accounting experience
