Position Overview:
Jones College is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Music Instructor specializing in high or low brass to join our School of Art, Music, and Performance. The ideal candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching, student mentorship, and collaborative departmental support. This full-time position includes a combination of academic music instruction and applied studio lessons, with additional responsibilities in assisting with the college’s marching band and various support ensembles.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Teach standard academic courses (e.g.,music appreciation, or other foundational music courses and applied lessons).
- Provide applied private studio instruction to brass students (e.g., trumpet, trombone, horn, tuba).
- Assist with the Typhoon marching band and other support ensembles such as pep band, concert band, or brass ensemble.
- Participate in student recruitment, retention, and advisement efforts within the music program.
- Collaborate with fellow faculty on performances, concerts, and campus-wide arts events.
- Maintain regular office hours and participate in student evaluation, assessment, and curricular planning.
- Work harmoniously with faculty and staff in support of department goals and initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Music or Music Education with a concentration in brass or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated success in teaching and mentoring students at the collegiate or pre-collegiate level.
- Experience in marching band and ensemble settings, with a willingness to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- College-level teaching experience, particularly in a community college or junior college setting.
- Proficiency in multiple brass instruments and ensemble direction.
- Experience collaborating on interdisciplinary or campus-wide events.
- A record of community engagement or student recruitment initiatives.
