Jones Contracting, Inc, is hiring a Civil Engineer for our office.
Our company is not looking for an employee to just fill the position but for an individual that wants to grow with us and become a long-term team member. The ideal candidate will have experience with both public and negotiated bids, track record of success designed as winning bids resulting in profitable jobs.
Responsibilities:
- Design-Build – draw floorplans & 3D design for design build pricing
Take Offs
- Gather required information and measurements from site visits and/or plans and specifications
- Develop materials lists and required labor estimates as needed
Sub/Vendor Solicitation
- Develop project-specific subcontractor requirements
- Develop invitation to bid (ITB) document
- As required, identify specific subcontractor to invite
- Communicate with subcontractors as required to obtain sufficient bid coverage
- Ensure bid package changes are communicated to all affected parties.
Develop Estimates and Bids for Construction Projects
- Monitor public bidding postings for projects of interest
- Develop and maintain relationships with decision makers in client companies as well as in targeted business
- Develop bid packages for selected project and submit according to project requirements
Pre-Construction Activities
- Develop project schedules as required
- Conduct buyouts as required to properly resource the awarded project without duplicating scopes
- Prepare subcontracts for review and negotiation as required
Other tasks as required or assigned
Requirements:
- Read and understand plans and specifications
- Strong math and analytical skills
- Must have 5 years of estimating and scheduling experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
- Proficient using Estimating Software
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to clearly develop and explain the content of bids
- Proficient in Excel and ability to create and manage complex spreadsheets
- Creating budgets and negotiating contracts experience
- Working knowledge of AIA forms and contract terms
- Willingness to travel to remote locations for pre-bid meetings
- Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
