We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Transportation Civil Engineer to join our team in Richfield, Utah. The candidate will be responsible for contributing to the development of the designs of a variety of transportation projects, primarily for state departments of transportation.
Work includes all the necessary steps to develop plans, specifications, estimates, and other essential deliverables and contract documents for construction of various transportation facilities.
Candidates can expect to perform the following tasks: Computer-aided design, quantity calculations, project cost estimating, occasional site visits to collect data, utility coordination and design, roadway and drainage design and modeling, plan sheet development, frequent and effect oral and written communication with internal team members and clients, development of specifications, and implementation of quality control procedures.
This position offers the opportunity to work on projects that have a significant impact on transportation infrastructure. These projects range from pavement preservation/rehabilitation to roadway widening, reconstruction, and new alignments. In addition, our team often designs active transportation projects such as pedestrian and bicycle paths. Many of the projects we work on include the design of roadway safety features such as guardrail and sign design.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize industry-standard software and tools to create detailed roadway designs, including typical sections, alignments, profiles, and 3D models.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and drawings to communicate design intent and recommendations.
- Conduct site visits and field inspections to assess existing conditions and develop design solutions.
- Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in transportation engineering.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals, budgets, and project schedules.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Ability to obtain Professional Engineering (PE) licensure within a reasonable timeframe.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in transportation engineering
- Basic understanding (or willingness to learn) Microstation/Open Roads Designer and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, quality driven, with the ability to solve complex engineering problems.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and clients.
- Knowledge of relevant design standards, regulations, and guidelines (e.g., AASHTO, MUTCD, FHWA).
- Managing multiple tasks simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
